Claire & Reuben wedding at Devonshire Fell

We travelled up to the Devonshire Fell the day before just in case there was delays with traffic as storm Jorge was closing in fast! We met up with the couple who had some spa time planned to unwind before the wedding.

After the bride said goodbye to the groom, we were kindly invited to dinner at a local restaurant which turned into a lovely evening and a great start to the wedding weekend.

The wedding day started in the Devonshire Fell Bridal suite where I met up with Claire the bride and he bridesmaids, we spent a chilled morning together and captured lots of relaxed photos and unobtrusive film whilst the champagne flowed.

The groom joined us at the hotel with their beautiful little girl Olivia to greet guests at the Devonshire Fell as they arrived for the wedding we have all been waiting for and it wasn’t long before Claire turned all the heads in the room as she made entrance in that amazing dress!

Couples portraits at Devonshire Fell

After an emotional ceremony with views overlooking the river from the main ceremony room the couple tied the knot and after lots of hugs and kisses it was time for a few family photos and couple portraits.

As a Wedding photographer and filmmaker, the dales is an incredible setting with rolling hills and in every direction. The weather gods decided to give us all four seasons in a matter of hours. One moment it was sunny and the next snow and hail which made the family photographers a bit of a challenge!

Despite the changing weather and the wind, the bride and groom wanted to venture out to take advantage of the nearby photo opportunities. The first stop was the Burnsall Bridge just 2 minutes from the Devonshire Fell Hotel followed by a slightly longer drive up the hills to get a spectacular view of the Yorkshire dales. After some epic photos and cinematic video with the newlyweds at one of the peaks of the hills overlooking the rolling hills and reservoir, we decided to head back to the hotel for the wedding breakfast.

Evening Reception at Devonshire Fell

Following some heartfelt speeches, the guests moved to the drink’s reception area of the hotel where the DJ was set up and ready to go for the party!

By this time, it had begun to snow heavily so I decided to use this to our advantage and set up a creative flash shot outside. I invited the bride and groom to brave the snow and they stood together under a white umbrella so this amazing photo could be captured that showed the couple back lit with snow lit up all around them., truly beautiful!

Soon after, the couple wanted to light some sparklers with some friends and family which the kids loved, we were all then treated to quick cake cut and a romantic first dance with their little girl in the middle. The evening party is fantastic time of day for everyone to unwind and to capture some awesome photos and film of guests throwing some shapes on the dance floor which helps tell the story of the day.

Enjoy this preview of your big day and thank you for letting me photograph and film your wedding, it was a pleasure to tell your story.
