Elopement Wedding Photography & Film in Northern Ireland | Sophie & David

Wedding Photography & Film

Northern Ireland is the perfect place to get married, with its picturesque scenery, it’s easy to see why the couple decided to elope here. Both Sophie and David were all set to be married in Chester in March this year before their plans where put on hold by Covid 19. After months of waiting the restrictions started to lift and It wasn’t long till I received a call from the lovely couple who told me their plans to have the Ceremony by a lake in Northern Ireland and the reception to be moved to 2021. This meant they could celebrate with all their friends and family next year when, fingers crossed, social distancing will be a distant memory. Within days of the call the flights were booked, and I was checking in at Liverpool airport with my cameras packed and mask on. With a short flight, I arrived at Belfast International Airport to begin this amazing adventure.

Sophie & David’s Wedding in Northern Ireland

After landing in Northern Ireland it was a drive to meet the Bride and Groom who were both getting ready at Bishops Gate Hotel in Derry. Upon arrival I took along walk around Derry where I was able to get some B-roll of the area and surrounding location for their wedding film. Both the bride Sophie, and groom David were excited for their day and were getting ready in the hotel for the wedding ceremony. I was able to capture both photos and film of the couple getting everything ready for the ceremony. With outfits being pressed and Sophie doing her hair and make-up there was a feel of anticipation in the air. The rain outside did not damped the occasion as Sophie looked beautiful in her wedding dress. Both David and Sophie wore Doc Martin boots and Sophie had picked white ones which added a touch of fun to the day and looked great with her dress.

Wedding Ceremony at Moor Lough

As we arrived at Moor Lough the weather changed to light rain and we made our way to the Lake the for the ceremony. Both the bride’s and groom’s parents were ready and waiting for the lovely couple. With film cameras set up and everyone in position the wedding ceremony began. It was a romantic and beautiful setting with the lake behind the couple as they said their wedding vows to each other. Sealed with a kiss the couple were married and the parents clapped and cheered. Champagne was waiting in the car and soon handed out while we took photographs of the bride and groom with their parents with the scenic lake as a backdrop.

Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland

We Jumped into the cars and drove to the coast and Dunluce Castle, which was about an hour away. I arrived there before the bride and groom and walked near to the cliff edge and sent the Drone up into the air to capture the breath-taking views of the coastline, with Dunluce Castle in the background. Once the Couple had arrived, they made their way down the road and across the field. When the local traffic drove pass, they sounded their car horns to celebrate the happy occasion. The rain started to clear just in time to take some epic photographs of the bride and groom with the castle behind them and the sea breeze. We then took a short drive down the road to the White Rocks beach. The rain continued to hold off and the sun started to break through as it was setting for the evening. With the waves crashing in and the surfers out enjoying the last light of the day Sophie and David walked along the beach. With the drone up in the air I was able to capture the couple walking through the sand. I filmed some magical moments between the happy couple as they stepped onto rocks that lead to the water’s edge. With the coast line behind them that seemed to go on forever I waded through the water to take some stunning photographs. It was a lovely end to a romantic day as the couple made their way back to the hotel for a dinner together as newlyweds.

A big reception is planned at Oddfellows in Chester with Family and friends in summer 2021. We will be back again to photograph and film for the second part of their wedding day. Thank you for inviting me to be part of your elopement in Northern Ireland, It was a pleasure to be able to tell your story of your wedding day.
